| ITA Industrial Training Associates was formed in Perth, Western Australia, in 1999 by Peter Brown and Max Wishaw, bringing together more than 50 years of experience as Chartered Engineers in condition monitoring and maintenance management.
Peter established P.R.E. Brown & Associates, New Zealand's first vibrations and condition monitoring company, in 1976. He has a long-standing involvement in the training and promotion of these technologies, and of the precision skills approach to maintenance management.
Max was the founder of Wishaw Engineering Services (now Amec) in 1977, the leading provider of condition monitoring services in Western Australia. Max now continues in an advisory role.
Both Peter and Max recognised certain limitations on the effectiveness of condition monitoring and further developed Peter's already established precision maintenance courses to address these limiting issues. They have experienced the benefits to client companies when the elements are in place.
- Elimination of root causes of failure through the application of plant-wide precision skills in equipment assembly and installation
- More effective use of condition monitoring information by maintenance planners and supervisors/coordinators.
- A cooperative relationship with operations and inputs from them
- Feedback to condition monitoring from maintenance and operations
- A genuine understanding by maintenance and operations of the role of condition monitoring, its limitations and its capabilities
- A genuine use of condition monitoring, not “lip service”
